Piupiu Earrings - BlackAWE
These intricate Piupiu Earrings in Black were handcrafted by the incredibly talented Māori designer Lee Olsen.
This gorgeous jewellery is inspired by piupiu - a skirt-like garment used for kapa haka performances. The te reo Māori word piupiu can also mean 'to wave about' and 'move to and fro' - a fitting description for these fun and lightweight earrings.
- Piupiu earrings made with bamboo
- Earrings measure approximately 7cm in length
- Stainless steel hooks
- Handcrafted in Hastings, Aotearoa
Under her brand Awe, Lee Olsen made Māori inspired jewellery for many years, selling from home and doing the odd craft market. It is a privlege for us to have Lee's ātaahua designs available online and in store at City Gallery for the Matarau exhibition.
